It wasn't until recently that I learned how essential cholesterol is. We need it to make vitamin D from sunlight, amongst other things, and if it is too low it can interfere in reproduction. Mmm. Makes you wonder, doesn't it.

Cholesterol is necessary for the human brain to function property.

Just to share the moment bcs your article gives me such…..enjoyment.

When God used the lie of Covid to wake me up, I was taking 3 dex amphetamine a a day ,

3 Valium a day , Normison at night and , an antidepressant. When my prescribing “ analyst “ added cannabis oil to the mix ….my brain could take no more and thankfully the much needed psychotic break occurred. ( long story ).

This does not take into account the endless antibiotics prescribed by local doctors, apparently for both Helicobacter ( excuse the spelling) and non existent UTI’s ( long story ).

I used the remaining drugs to detox myself . Then focused on withdrawing from thyroid meds , using diet and supplements.

The most helpful aspect of that 1st year was constant prayer , because God in His mercy did not simply zap me into maturity.

I slept on the floor underneath pictures of the Stations of the Cross because I could not figure out how to place them securely elsewhere.

Sitting n reading in the sun today and thanking Him constantly for people like you. 🙏🙏🙏

Blessings from Sydney Australia.

Smiling out loud now.

As you know , my health and peace are on His hands.

The powers that be here in Aus will only allow me to work if I spy for them. Even volunteer work , but it’s easy not to sit idle bcs I have a life time of learning yet to do .

May God continue to bless you n yours.

I hope this is the dumbest reason you've seen for taking statins. My husband is a post-retirement-age out-of-hours GP. He's never been a careerist doctor and basically did lots of different gigs, working all over the place, avoiding the bureacracy and politics of being a 'proper' GP in a practice.

I met him in mid-life and he came over as being independent-minded and not a box ticker, etc. He told me 20 years ago that there was no proper evidence for the use of statins and that they made no difference to mortality outcomes. He even fell out with his formerly best friend in Dublin because said friend was giving out statins like sweets (because he was getting paid for them, presumably).

BUT

My husband's doctor put him on statins - must be at least a decade ago. He had to switch types because he was having memory problems with the first one. I asked him why on earth he was taking them at all when he'd told me years ago that they were useless. Well, as I'm sure people know, doctors have to do an internal annual appraisal plus an external appraisal for the GMC (instituted after Shipman, because everybody knows that the best way to stop psychopaths from killing old ladies is to make them fill in some pointless paperwork and do a bit of CPD).

Anyway, it turns out hubby's GP is ... [drum roll] ... his external appraiser. And the reason he's taking statins he knows are useless is because he doesn't want to rock the boat. It's been years and I've still not scraped my jaw off the floor.

Wow. If I was so pressed I’d gratefully accept the prescription, fill it & flush it dithering toilet.

Great post! I especially appreciate this:

"I don’t do regular check-ups (I’m not a car) or “early screening” (these programs are a net medical harm to the population). I don’t “Know my numbers” nor have I any interest in them. Personally, I’m not inclined to attempt to “cure me of cancer” if I should succumb. Each to their own. We’re all going to die. It’s normal. The quality of my life is more important to me than it’s length. "
